Theme: Folkcraft and Forest. During this immersive woodland experience at Acorn Acres, children will explore both traditional and modern techniques for creating beautiful handwork from natural materials found in the forest. Through guided instruction and hands-on discovery, students will nurture their creativity and curiosity while learning primitive folkcraft skills using natural plant dyes, fibers, and wood. Participants will spend time caring for our rabbits and learning how animals' wool or hair can be transformed into yarn. Along the way, they will experiment with fiber arts such as felted creations, simple weaving, and other nature-inspired crafts. Throughout the camp, children will venture on guided forest walks to observe the unique plants, trees, and wildlife that make up our local ecosystem. They will learn how natural materials can be gathered responsibly for crafting, natural dyeing, eco-printing, and even handmade paper. Time will also be spent in the organic garden, discovering how plants can be used for color, creativity, and connection to the land. Of course, no day at Acorn Acres would be complete without plenty of time for joyful outdoor play — splashing in the creek, climbing trees, and exploring the beauty of the woods. Through exploration, experimentation, craft, and play, children will deepen their connection with the natural world while discovering how creativity and nature are beautifully intertwined. Together we will cultivate curiosity, respect for the land, and a growing sense of stewardship for the environment that sustains us. $135 June 9-11, 9am-1pm Kids will be dropped off and will need to bring water and lunchSummer Camp at Acorn Acres Nature School and Farmstead
